Ludo King is an excellent digital version of the classic board game, and for many families in South Asia it’s become the default way to play Ludo on a phone. The online multiplayer works reliably, the private room system for friends and family is straightforward, and the game supports both online and offline play against AI. The voice chat feature during matches is a genuine differentiator for family sessions.
The ad load is the main friction point. Between turns and between matches, ads appear frequently, and the game makes clear that removing them costs money. The AI opponent’s difficulty doesn’t scale meaningfully, which makes solo play feel hollow after a few games. There have also been occasional server stability issues during high-traffic periods.
As a social board game to play with people you know, it’s excellent and free. As a solo product, it’s thin. Gametion has found the right balance for what this actually is — a digital social game — and the massive install base reflects that it delivers exactly what players want from it.
Verdict: The best free digital Ludo available, and genuinely great as a family social game despite the ad load.
