Mini Militia occupies a specific niche: a local and online multiplayer 2D shooter designed for groups who actually want to play in the same room. The dual-stick controls are surprisingly capable on mobile, movement is quick, and the jetpack adds a vertical layer that keeps combat dynamic. At its best, playing against friends in the same space with six players on one screen is genuinely fun in a way most mobile multiplayers can’t replicate.
Online matchmaking against strangers is less reliable. Connection quality and player skill variance in public matches creates an inconsistent experience. The in-game purchase system for avatar cosmetics and power upgrades tips into pay-for-advantage territory in some modes. The game’s age shows in some UI and visual decisions that haven’t been updated meaningfully.
For local multiplayer among friends it punches well above its install size. Online solo play is a more mixed proposition.
Verdict: One of the best local multiplayer shooters on Android, less compelling as a solo online game but hard to beat when you have friends nearby.
