Shooting Games
Shoot down the wrong raider in Dune Rescue and a colonist falls out of the sky. That is the twist the game is built on: the raiders drop in to carry people off the sand, so a clean hit creates a rescue you now have to dive for, and losing all ten colonists loses the colony outright. It turns shooting into a cost rather than a reward. Star Salvo is ours, and it removes the trigger entirely. The ship fires on its own for the whole run, so your thumb only steers, and the skill test moves from aiming to positioning: where you sit on the screen decides what you hit and what hits you. Every fifth wave is deliberately lighter, which gives the pressure a pulse instead of a slope, and makes the heavy waves read as heavy because something flat sits next to them.
