These are the apps already sitting on your phone and the ones you are deciding about at eleven at night. Google Drive, WhatsApp, Notion, ChatGPT, Strava, PayPal: each review covers what the app is good at, where it starts to drag, and what it costs once the free tier stops being enough. Each page carries a list of what works, a list of what does not, and a short verdict at the end.

Our editorial score is separate from anything Google publishes. It is out of ten, it follows from the pros and cons on the page and from what the Play Store listing shows, and it is an opinion rather than a measurement. The rating, the number of ratings, the install count and the score breakdown are taken from the official listing and marked as Google's figures, in their own table below the writing.
